Recovery & Prevention Resources Increases Commitment To Morrow County
Recovery & Prevention Resources of Delaware and Morrow Counties (RPR) has increased its commitment to providing
substance abuse treatment and prevention services in Morrow County.
Among the changes is the hiring of an additional full-time therapist to be located in the agency's Mount Gilead office.
Kyle Kershner, who joined RPR on Aug. 27, 2007, will be responsible for developing and implementing a number of adolescent
treatment initiatives in Morrow County.
Kershner is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family
Therapist Board. He has his Master's Degree in clinical pastoral counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. Most
recently, Kershner served as a home-based therapist for Moundbuilders Guidance Center in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
“We are pleased to have someone of Kyle's extraordinary talent and dedication join the RPR team,” said Tony
Williams, chief executive officer of RPR. “His experience, passion and caring for adolescents is unmatched, and he
will provide valuable support to the families of Morrow County and to teens in need.”
In his previous position, Kershner worked closely with the Knox County Drug Court Program. RPR provides a number of services
to the Morrow County Drug Court as well, including assessment, treatment and case management in partnership with law enforcement,
family and court officials. The agency also works with local school districts on substance abuse prevention programming.
“It is an honor to join a respected organization like RPR,” said Kershner. “The agency has been a stable
force in Morrow County for decades, and I look forward to continuing those essential community partnerships by working
collaboratively with schools, families, the courts and other community organizations.”
Among Kershner's first responsibilities will be Morrow County's implementation of the nationally renowned Seven
Challenges® adolescent treatment curriculum, which is being offered for the first time in the fall of 2007
and will be held in the Substance Abuse Recovery Classroom at The Tomorrow Center in Morrow County.
The Seven Challenges is a comprehensive, research-based treatment program for substance abusing and substance dependent
adolescents. Used across the country in public and private schools, outpatient treatment facilities, private practices,
group homes and juvenile correctional facilities, the program helps young people look at themselves, understand what it
takes to give up a drug abusing lifestyle and prepare for success when they commit to change.
A community training and introduction program on The Seven Challenges will be held in RPR's Delaware County office on
September 13, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Community leaders, parents and other stakeholders are invited to attend.
The new program enhances RPR's comprehensive range of treatment programs offered for families, children, teens and adults in
Morrow County. RPR offers a full array of evidence-based outpatient treatment services, including assessment and diagnostic
evaluation; individual, group and family counseling; crisis intervention; case management; and intensive outpatient programs
– all offered by licensed therapists.
RPR, a community-based not-for-profit agency, has served children, adolescents, adults and families in Delaware and Morrow
Counties for more than 35 years. The agency also is the only provider of substance abuse prevention in the two counties,
offering a comprehensive range of research-based programs that are built on learning, practicing and supporting healthy life
choices.
